A lot of false rumors are floating around La Jolla about BOTOX. How much do you really know about this treatment? Read the following, and test your knowledge:

True or False: BOTOX Cosmetic injections make you look frozen.

Answer: False. When performed correctly, BOTOX injections should leave you looking rested and refreshed. Finding a skilled treatment provider who is highly trained is the best way to ensure natural-looking results.

True or False: BOTOX is poisonous.

Answer: False. BOTOX is made from a purified protein called botulinum toxin A. BOTOX has received FDA-approval for the correction of facial expression lines and has been thoroughly tested for safety. Most problems relating to BOTOX are the result of improper injection technique rather than the product itself.

True or False: BOTOX was originally used for eye disorders and muscle spasms.

Answer: True. BOTOX has a long history of medical uses and can treat a variety of conditions unrelated to cosmetic concerns. At my practice, I often use BOTOX to treat hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. BOTOX has also been shown to be an effective solution for those suffering from migraines.

True or False: BOTOX is best for dynamic wrinkles.

Answer: True. Dynamic wrinkles are those that occur as a result of repeated facial expressions, such as frown lines, laugh lines and squint lines. Because BOTOX relaxes facial muscles and prevents muscle contraction, the skin lies flat, and the appearance of wrinkles is softened.
