Sometimes women and men who come to me for nose surgery in New York City aren't quite sure what it is that bothers them about their noses. They just know they are unhappy with their appearance. If you have concerns about the size or shape of your nose, but you are unsure whether or not rhinoplasty can help, here are 3 of the most common conditions I treat at my practice:

  • Large dorsal hump: This condition is characterized by a prominent bump on the nose and can often be described as "beak-like" in appearance. A large dorsal hump can be removed during rhinoplasty to create a smoother nasal slope.
  • Bulbous tip: individuals with bulbous tips are usually concerned that their noses look too round or boxy. Nasal tip refinement can create better definition so the nose dimensions are equalized and the tip appears less prominent.
  • Hanging columella: the columella is the fleshy portion of the nasal septum that separates the nostrils. It may appear to "hang" or droop too low, and it is often seen in connection with retracted nostrils that appear to be "pulled back." Both conditions are usually corrected very easily during nose surgery.
