Breast Augmentation after PregnancyPosted Thursday, October 27, 2011 to PROCEDURES > Breast Posted by Gustavo Galante, MD By: Gus E. Galante, M.D. Motherhood is often a wonderful and extremely rewarding experience for women, but it also can result in a variety of undesirable changes on their bodies, such as loss of breast volume. A number of women come to my practice with questions concerning breast augmentation in Indiana, and whether or not this popular procedure can help them effectively restore their breast shape and volume. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can impact a woman's breasts, stretching the skin and often resulting in a decrease in volume. One of the first steps in any cosmetic procedure is choosing a surgeon who has the experience and technical skills to create personalized results for people with a wide range of cosmetic needs. When mothers come into my practice with questions concerning breast augmentation, I often recommend trying on a bra with breast implant sizers. This allows patients to see and feel exactly how their enhancement will affect their body contour. Women also have the option of silicone and saline implants, each of which possesses a unique set of benefits and drawbacks. Although many women choose silicone implants for a more "natural" feel, some women opt for saline due to the benefits it offers. Talk with your surgeon about the different types to determine which is right for you. One of the biggest concerns I notice when mothers come in for a breast augmentation consultation is when they will be able to return to their families following surgery. Most patients are able to return home immediately after surgery, and need assistance for only a few days. 0 Comments | Share | Save to Favorites Report Abuse| Rate It: Add Comment |
