The Exercise Myth

All too often, men and women fall victim to the false conception that they can obtain the body they want if they just work hard enough. Unfortunately, this belief is merely myth. In certain situations, plastic surgery procedures such as tummy tuck or liposuction in Dallas are necessary for obtaining a smooth, sculpted body. Here's why:

  • Genetics: Your body may be predisposed, due to your genetics, to store fat in certain areas. Therefore, no matter how much you exercise certain areas of your body, it may be almost impossible to completely smooth away trouble spots such as "love handles" without surgery. Liposuction can actually reshape your body and improve balance and symmetry by removing the fat cells in specific areas that are hard to tone. Once removed, the fat cells do not "come back." Even if an individual gains or loses weight after surgery, the fat will be distributed more evenly.
  • Weight loss/Pregnancy: Life changes can cause changes in your body that often cannot be resolved through diet and exercise alone. Individuals who experience significant weight loss or pregnancy, for example, sometimes have a substantial amount of excess skin. This concern usually can only be solved surgically. A tummy tuck procedure actually retightens the abdominal wall after it has been severely stretched and removes extra skin, thereby creating a smoother body contour. No amount of abdominal exercises can restore the muscle once it has been stretched to the extreme.

Exercise may not be able to accomplish what surgery can, but it is still important for maintaining optimal health and ensuring that your results are long-lasting. By eating right and staying active, you can improve your body and your confidence.

I have experienced this myth first hand... I worked out for near 5 hours a day for a year. Had lost over 130lbs, even doing so there were certain spots I could not get rid of... Small portion of my lower stomach, some skin due to the weight loss, and love handles. Even when I was below 10% body fat (very in shape) I still had these issues! Cosmetic surgery was the only solution for my problems :)
