Many people who want to rejuvenate the appearance of their eyelids and area around their eyes are unsure about whether they should choose an injectable treatment such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, or if they would be a better candidate for eyelid surgery in the San Diego area. While each approach has advantages and drawbacks, the best choice for you will depend on your individual needs. Speaking with a board-certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in facial plastic surgery can help you get a better idea of which treatment will meet your needs. However, the following "cheat sheet" can provide you with some general direction.

For Wrinkles:

Try Dermal Fillers: Many dermal fillers contain a naturally-occurring substance called "hyaluronic acid" that binds water to the skin and plumps up wrinkles for up to 6 months. This is a good option to reduce the look of "crow's feet."

For Lifting:

Try BOTOX® Cosmetic: BOTOX prevents facial muscles from contracting and is often used to elevate the brows. By injecting BOTOX into the muscles that pull the brow down, this creates a chemical forehead/brow "lift."

Undereye Puffiness:

Try Lower eyelid surgery: Excess fat deposits under the eye often result in the look of "puffy" eyes. Lower eyelid surgery can remove or reposition fat pads for a refreshed appearance.

Sagging Eyelids:

Try Upper Eyelid Surgery: Sagging skin can cause your eyes to look smaller and even create vision problems. By removing and tightening loose skin in the upper lids, the eyelid contour is improved and the eyes appear more youthful.
