Sometimes, to achieve the most pleasing aesthetic results, I recommend that my rhinoplasty patients in New York City also consider chin augmentation. Usually, I suggest this approach for individuals who have a weak or unpronounced jaw line as well as a prominent nose. By increasing the length of the chin and reducing the size of the nose, I can sculpt a more balanced and symmetrical facial profile.

How do chin implants affect my appearance?

A receding or undersized jaw bone can create the look of a "double chin." Chin implants provide enhanced facial contours and create a more defined jaw line. Chin augmentation can also help a long nose to appear shorter and can restore harmony among facial features.

How is chin augmentation performed?

Chin augmentation can be performed under local anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. A small incision is made inside the mouth to hide any scarring and the appropriate-sized implants are placed accordingly. Usually, this surgery can be performed in under half an hour.

Can rhinoplasty be performed at the same time as chin augmentation?

Yes. These procedures are often performed together to revitalize the appearance of the entire face.

How do I know if chin augmentation is right for me?

The best way to determine if you would benefit from chin implants is to speak with a board-certified plastic surgeon. He or she can help you decide which procedure will best meet your needs.
