For many women and men, a rhinoplasty in Houston can help improve the appearance of several aspects of the nose, including the bridge, tip, and nostrils. However, sometimes patients are unhappy with the final result of their nose surgery, and wish to refine or revise the nose. In this instance, revision rhinoplasty can help further correct any nasal imperfections.

Revision rhinoplasty differs from primary rhinoplasty because it is a revision surgery. Therefore, there are additional factors to take into consideration. Revision rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult procedures to perform in facial plastic surgery. This is largely due to the fact that every patient is unique, and may have different issues or concerns regarding their initial nose surgery. Also, any scarring from the initial rhinoplasty may pose a concern when performing revision rhinoplasty.

While challenging, I find that this surgery tends to be exciting. Depending on the surgical goal, revision rhinoplasty may be performed using the open or closed technique. The open technique allows for greater nasal correction, as there is an additional scar across the columella that is created. After that, depending on the extent of correction necessary, various aspects of the nose can be reshaped. Typically, women wish to improve symmetry, refine previous results, or rebuild a part of the nose that was over-reduced.

Whatever the concern, revision nose surgery can help improve or further complement previous results.
