Celebrities` Love Affair with Plastic Surgery

Ever stood in a long line at the grocery store and flipped through one of those entertainment magazines? They all have cover story articles featuring the latest celebrity plastic surgery gossip. Men and women seeking the right Long Island plastic surgeons for their needs sometimes ask me if it's "really true" that their favorite stars have "unreal" bodies.

Here's the skinny:

• Every fashion and entertainment magazine employs skilled graphic artists and photographers who use the art of Photoshop to provide curves in the most desirable places, whittled waistlines as needed, and – oh, did I mention the way that Photoshop can erase lines, wrinkles, and even excess jowl skin? So don't assume that what you see is what you get.
• Liposuction, tummy tucks, and breast enhancements are among the most frequently requested procedures by celebrities. My patients love the results and the way that such treatments and surgeries can transform them so that they look as great as they feel. And celebrities don't hesitate to take advantage of the benefits of these procedures to stay forever young.

When a patient brings me an entertainment or gossip magazine with their favorite celebrities looking fabulous, I encourage them to do a reality check. I also point out that every individual has a unique anatomy and special cosmetic goals.
