How do I choose a breast implant size?
This is one of the most common questions I hear from women considering breast augmentation. It has been a problem throughout the history of breast augmentation.
Breast implant size is a serious matter, while at the same time fun to consider. What will I look like with various breast implant sizes? How will various breast implant sizes affect my body? Should I choose big breast implants to increase my breast size to a D cup, or more modest size to a C cup?
The importance of the matter is reflected in an important statistic uncovered this summer through a study by Marina Plastic Surgery in California. The breast augmentation statistics showed that over 1/3rd of all breast implant revision procedures were simply to change the size of the breast implant. In fact, changing breast implant size is now the most common reason why women go back to have additional surgeries.
Women have been directed to choose their breast implant size through a variety of methods:
* The rice bag test
* Use breast implant sizers in the doctor's office
* Viewing before and after photos of women with various breast implant sizes on the internet
* Computerized 3-D imagery of breast implant sizes on their own body
* Look at photos of celebrities with breast implants
* Leave the decision of breast implant size up to the plastic surgeon All of these methods have some merit.
Each has been a tried and true method of choosing a breast implant size, yet the results yield that important breast augmentation statistic: most breast implant revision procedures are to change breast implant size alone.
In this first part of a series of How to Choose a Breast Implant Size, I am offering an introduction to the basic methods women use to choose their breast implant size. Over the coming days I will be releasing more information, digging deeper into each of these methods. In the end I want to suggest using a combination of methods to choose breast implant size.
New methods such as the Purlz Breast Sizing System are a step in the right direction because it gets to the root level of the breast implant size decision. Images of other women can only help you see what a certain breast implant size looks like on another woman.
The Purlz Breast Sizing System helps you see and feel what various breast implant sizes will feel like on you. In the end the breast implant size decision will be between you and your doctor. But it's critical for you to take control of the decision through experience to avoid the problems associated with going back for a second or even third surgery to get a different breast implant size.
