Get the Most from your Tummy Tuck with LipoabdominoplastyPosted Tuesday, July 20, 2010 to PROCEDURES > Body Posted by Michael Chiaramonte, MD, FACS By: Michael F. Chiaramonte, M.D., F.A.C.S. The tummy tuck procedure is a significant surgery, and patients should expect significant results. Unfortunately, I have seen a number of patients through the years who, while happy with their smoother, flatter abdomen after tummy tuck, are still left with fullness and excess fat in the midsection. Often, these patients will return to their plastic surgeon to correct this problem, typically with liposuction. Maryland and Northern Virginia patients who don't want to undergo two separate surgeries have another option: lipoabdominoplasty. I developed my lipoabdominoplasty procedure for those patients who want to address their entire midsection in one procedure – from bra-line bulges to love handles and the dreaded "muffin top." I call it the Bella Body Lift, and it involves the skillful use of liposuction to re-contour the entire torso. Adding expanded liposuction to the tummy tuck procedure is safe and effective, and saves the patient the cost, time, and discomfort of a second surgery. The Bella Body Lift may be a good option for healthy women and men who are at or near their ideal weight, but still can't get rid of excess fat in the midsection. Women typically lose 1 or 2 dress sizes after this procedure and, for some of my patients in Maryland, breast enhancement is an added benefit. When the excess fat and rolls are removed from beneath the bra-line, the definition and contour of the breasts is enhanced. My patients are generally very happy with this more complete enhancement of their midsection. 0 Comments | Share | Save to Favorites Report Abuse| Rate It: Add Comment |
