In 2006, an American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) survey of members revealed that 86% of their surgeons were in agreement that patients were “more educated about plastic surgery.” While that’s great news, if you’re a man who’s just beginning to research a cosmetic procedure, you’re probably wondering where to start:

    • Search Google, and you’ll receive well over a hundred thousand results for “plastic surgery for men”
    • Search Amazon, and you’ll find very few books dedicated to male plastic surgery

It can become either overwhelming or downright discouraging. Don’t let it, because the good news is you’ve found this site, and it’s a fantastic resource. The great news is there are more sites dedicated to helping you to make an educated decision about your body; you just need to know where to look. Well, look no further, because here are three great sources of information: the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Guy’s Guide to Plastic Surgery for Men and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).

As you educate yourself about your options, please keep in mind that it’s important to not only research the cosmetic procedure you’re interested in, but also the plastic surgeon or dermatologist who will perform it. Also, please remember…

You’re Not Alone – A Few Facts About Male Plastic Surgery

• In the U.S., over one million cosmetic surgical and minimally invasive procedures were performed on men in 2006 (source: ASPS)

• Since 1997, non-surgical male cosmetic procedures increased 722% in the U.S.  (source: ASAPS)

• Plastic surgery for men increased 17.5% in the U.K. from 2006 to 2007 (source: The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons)

• In Greece, men account for 30% of the cosmetic procedures performed there (source: Hellenic Society of Plastic and Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery)

For more information about popular male plastic surgery procedures such as male breast reduction surgery, eyelid surgery for men and male liposuction, be sure to check out the Guy’s Guide to Plastic Surgery for Men. There, you’ll not only discover “just the facts, man,” but you can also find a plastic surgeon or dermatologist in your state.

Hey Mike, did you see that the new ASAPS stats just came out a couple days ago? They`re saying male plastic surgery is up 17% in 2007 over 2006. That`s a pretty "huooge" increase, in the words of Donald Trump. Sounds like you`ve found a great resource in the Guy`s Guide to Plastic Surgery for Men. I work with a plastic surgery practice in Northern California, and more and more guys are considering such options in a href="http://www.enhanceyourimage.com/procedures/eyelid.cfm"Santa Rosa as eyelid surgery/a, liposuction, male breast reduction, and facelift. Turns out that women don`t have a lock on looking good.
