Hair Restoration Conference ReportPosted Friday, September 7, 2007 to PROCEDURES > Hair Posted by The Original Anti-Aging & Cosmetic Surgery Magazine The 7th meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery in October in San Francisco was well attended by hair restoration surgeons from around the world. Over 475 physicians and medical assistants from more than 20 countries were present at the hair restoration conference to attend lectures each day on new findings and the latest techniques. The goal of the conference was to provide an educational forum for physicians interested in and engaged in the field of hair restoration surgery. Sharing of information between hair transplant surgeons helps provide the latest in technology and technique to everyone who attended, with the likely result being a better availability of information to patients. Topics ranged from single follicular hair grafting to flap techniques of hair restoration. Many new devices to improve the final result were introduced as well as observations presented on the use of drugs to slow hair loss. Continued studies on genetics and the cause of hair loss in both men and women were the subject of numerous talks. Another topic of interest was the use of laser assisted hair grafting techniques. Society president Dr Sheldon Kabaker said, "Our goals are to achieve a natural look that is undetectable. And because of advanced techniques we have very low incidents of complication." With surgical techniques that can already create undetectable hair transplantation, advancements are now being made to improve the comfort of the patient. The conference addressed ways to reduce surgical time and recovery time while providing excellent results - the goals for the modern day hair transplant surgeon. 2 Comments | Share | Save to Favorites Report Abuse| Rate It: Add Comment |
